St. Sebastian’s School, Kolkata celebrated Van Mahotsav with tree plantation drives, eco‑awareness activities and student participation to promote a greener campus and highlight the importance of environmental conservation
Van Mahotsav, the festival of trees celebrated across India in the first week of July, was observed with enthusiasm at St. Sebastian’s School, Kolkata. Students, teachers and staff joined together in a campus‑wide tree plantation drive, planting saplings to support a greener environment and contribute to India’s afforestation efforts.
The day included awareness programmes on the importance of trees, discussions on climate change and biodiversity, and class‑wise activities such as poster making, slogan writing and eco‑themed assemblies. Teachers highlighted how Van Mahotsav encourages every citizen, especially young learners, to take responsibility for protecting nature and preserving green cover for future generations.
By celebrating Van Mahotsav on the school campus in Kolkata, St. Sebastian’s School reinforced its commitment to environmental education, sustainability and value‑based learning. The participation of students in planting and caring for saplings made the event a meaningful, hands‑on lesson in stewardship of the earth.
